Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Finance to join our leadership team and support the CFO in overseeing the financial operations of a growing mid-sized equipment manufacturing company based near Knoxville, TN. The ideal candidate will bring strong financial planning, analysis, and operational finance experience, with a deep understanding of manufacturing cost structures, budgeting, and business performance metrics. This role will play a critical part in guiding strategic financial decisions and ensuring financial integrity across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:

Lead the financial planning and analysis (FP&A) function, including budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and reporting.

Partner with the CFO to develop and execute long-term financial strategies aligned with company goals.

Provide financial insights and recommendations to support executive decision-making, operational efficiency, and business growth.

Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting in compliance with GAAP.

Manage the company’s cost accounting processes, including standard costing, inventory valuation, and variance analysis.

Ensure effective internal controls are in place to safeguard assets and ensure the accuracy of financial information.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams—including operations, engineering, and supply chain—to evaluate capital expenditures, pricing strategies, and margin performance.

Support annual audit and tax compliance activities with external partners.

Lead and mentor a finance team, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or MBA preferred).

8+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience, including 3+ years in a manufacturing environment.

Proven experience in financial modeling, operational analysis, and strategic planning.

Deep knowledge of cost accounting, inventory controls, and financial systems used in manufacturing.

Strong working knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting requirements.

Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Infor) and advanced Excel or data analysis tools.

Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to work across departments.
Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in the equipment manufacturing, industrial, or capital goods sectors.

Familiarity with Lean or Six Sigma financial reporting principles.

Hands-on experience with capital investment analysis and ROI modeling.
