Job Title:  Planer Chain Puller – Immediate Opening!
Pay: $22.53/hour

Day Shift
Monday - Thursday, 6:00AM - 3:30PM
Friday, 6:30AM - 10:30AM

Swing Shift
Monday - Thursday, 3:45PM - 1:15AM
Friday, 12:00PM - 4:00PM

Start Date: ASAP
We are seeking a hardworking Planer Chain Puller for a Temp-Hire position to assist with a variety of clean-up and utility responsibilities at a local lumber mill in Springfield.
As a Planer Chain Puller,  you will be responsible for:
  • Sort and stack lumber according to size, grade, and specifications
  • Remove defective or off-grade pieces from the chain
  • Watch for jams, misfeeds, or mechanical issues on the planer chain
  • Lift, turn, and move boards from the conveyor to appropriate stacks or carts
  • Cleaning and maintaining planer chains to ensure optimal performance and longevity
  • Operating machinery and equipment related to planer chain cleaning and maintenance
  • Regularly cleaning planer chains and conducting inspections for wear and tear
  • Assisting in other areas of the lumber mill or facility as needed
The ideal candidate for this role will have:
  • This is a physical job, moving 2x4, 2x6, and sometimes 2x10 dimensional lumber off a conveyor and stacking, must be physically capable to handle this field of work safely and productively 
  • 2+ years of work experience in a production experience in a manufacturing facility preferred
  • 1+ year of experience in wood manufacturing preferred
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while paying attention to detail.
  • Practice consistent and robust safety policies.
  • Great aptitude for learning machinery that is used in wood processing and production.
  • Previous experience using skill saws, hand, and power tools.
  • Can stand, stoop, bend, push and pull for an 8-to-10-hour shift.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. to 75 lbs. on a semi-consistent basis.
  • Have great work ethic, attendance, and punctuality.
  • Work as part of a diverse team.
