Linux Engineer — Prestigious Hedge Fund
Location: East Village / NoHo, NYC
Schedule: Onsite four days per week

A prestigious global hedge fund is seeking a Linux Engineer to join a successful and growing infrastructure team. This role will focus on architecting and implementing strategic improvements to the firm’s Linux environment while maintaining high-performance, low-latency systems that support global trading operations.

The Linux Engineer will play a key role in supporting the firm’s expansion, including new trading strategies, additional locations, and scalable deployment mechanisms for software teams. This individual will also ensure low-latency trading applications run reliably across a global network of co-location sites.
Responsibilities

  • Architect and implement enhancements to the Linux infrastructure

  • Maintain and optimize low-latency trading environments

  • Support global expansion across trading platforms and co-location sites

  • Automate deployment and configuration management

  • Collaborate with engineering teams on scalable deployment strategies
Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field

  • 5+ years of hands-on Linux administration/engineering experience

  • Experience with both Debian and RHEL preferred

  • Strong performance analysis and kernel tuning experience, particularly in low-latency environments

  • Proficiency with Python and Ansible for automation

  • Familiarity with Nix/NixOS is a plus

  • Working knowledge of networking, storage, and clustering technologies

  • Prior financial services or trading environment experience preferred
