Job Description
A Fairfield County MSP is seeking an experienced Network Engineer to join their team. This key role involves designing and deploying large-scale network solutions, managing networks, Layer 2/3 switches, routers, firewalls, and handling OSPF/BGP protocols. The position is client-facing and offers significant growth potential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Network Defense: Analyze LAN/WAN infrastructure for vulnerabilities, identify security risks, and enhance network protection.
- Issue Resolution: Diagnose network issues and develop effective solutions.
- Collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams to implement robust security measures.
Technical Expertise:
- OSI Model: Proficient across all layers of the OSI model.
- Switch Configuration: Skilled in Layer 2/3 switch configuration (Cisco non-SMB via CLI).
- Routing: Advanced knowledge of dynamic routing protocols (OSPF, BGP) and static routing.
- High Availability Protocols: Experience with HSRP, VRRP, and other protocols.
- Multi-Site Networks: Design and manage multi-site LAN/WAN networks.
- Virtualization: Experience with VMWare vSwitch configuration.
- WAN Transport: Familiarity with MPLS, VPLS, and other WAN solutions.
Wireless Expertise:
- Controller-Based WLAN: Deploy enterprise-grade wireless systems (802.11) with 802.1x authentication; experience with Cisco/Meraki and Ruckus Wireless preferred.
Firewall Knowledge:
- Enterprise Platforms: Proficiency with Fortinet, PaloAlto, and Cisco ASA firewalls.
- IPS/IDS: Knowledge of Intrusion Prevention/Detection Systems (SourceFire/Snort, PaloAlto).
- SSL VPN: Experience with SSL VPN platforms.
Server Skills:
- Microsoft & VMWare: Strong understanding of enterprise-level server platforms.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 6 years in LAN/WAN networking and security.
- Certifications (Preferred): Cisco-related certifications such as CCNA-Security, CCNP, or CCIE.
